📌 Key Takeaways:
- AI & Google: In 2026, Google does not penalize AI content but demands high-quality content (E-E-A-T). Humans must remain in control.
- “AI-Ready” Strategy: Structure your articles into standalone blocks (“chunkables”) and short paragraphs (under 300 characters) to be cited by AI search engines (GEO).
- Inverted Method: Answer the user’s question right from the introduction to target position 0 and satisfy conversational tools.
- The Right Prompt: Educate the AI by giving it a role (expert), a precise context, and a list of “forbidden words” (AI clichés) for a natural tone.
- Importance of the Outline: Never write without an outline that mixes search intent and the best semantic entities of your competitors.
Search Engine Optimization is an essential discipline for increasing online visibility. However, many struggle to achieve tangible results, hitting walls with expensive tools and complex algorithms.
The emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI), specifically ChatGPT, has transformed the SEO approach. By using ChatGPT SEO prompts to rank, it is possible to automate and optimize several aspects of referencing. These prompts allow you to save time, improve analytical precision, and enrich content quality.
As a ChatGPT SEO Consultant, I have observed the positive impact of these techniques on my clients’ sites, allowing them to reach top-tier positions. Discover my method in 11 ChatGPT prompts, tested and proven to rank effectively.
A Brief Reminder: SEO & AI
First of all, it is worth remembering that to date, Google does not penalize AI-generated content. I have already discussed this subject in a more comprehensive article.
“We focus on the quality of content, rather than how content is produced. It has allowed us to deliver reliable, high-quality results to users for years.” Google Guidelines
For the search engine, nothing changes; the guideline for SEO has been the same for years: rewarding quality content.
Furthermore, for successful SEO, the strategy must be holistic. For me, this means working on the 4 pillars of SEO:
- Technical: what’s under the hood
- UX: mainly loading speed, responsive design, and usability
- Content: the indispensable part
- Authority: everything related to branding and popularity.
Understanding SEO Prompts
What is a prompt?
A prompt, in the context of search engine optimization (SEO) and AI tools like ChatGPT, is an instruction or a question designed to generate a specific response. Prompts are used to guide the AI to produce relevant and targeted content based on the user’s specific needs.
For example, an SEO writer might create a prompt to get keyword ideas or suggestions for blog post titles.
Why use SEO prompts?
SEO prompts offer several significant benefits for SEO professionals. Here are a few reasons why using them is beneficial:
- Time-saving: By using well-formulated prompts, writers can quickly generate keyword lists, content ideas, and competitor analyses, saving valuable time.
- Increased creativity: Prompts allow for exploring new and creative angles for content, helping to diversify content strategy and more effectively meet user expectations.
- Task optimization: By integrating prompts into their workflow, SEO professionals can automate certain repetitive tasks, such as writing meta-descriptions or analyzing competitors, while ensuring the quality and relevance of the results.
- Precision and relevance: By formulating specific prompts, it is possible to obtain accurate answers adapted to SEO needs, improving content quality and search engine performance.
- Flexibility: Prompts can be easily adjusted to meet specific needs, whether creating content on current trends or integrating recent market data into an SEO strategy.
By using SEO prompts strategically, professionals can optimize their content creation efforts, ensure better relevance for the produced text, and more accurately meet user and search engine expectations. This approach maximizes drafting efficiency while increasing the quality and performance of generated content.
My 11 ChatGPT SEO Prompts for Content That Ranks
Content creation is at the heart of every successful SEO strategy. Using the best SEO prompts can significantly improve the efficiency and quality of your content production. Here are some practical prompt examples to optimize your content creation efforts.
Note that these prompts also work for other AIs like Gemini or Claude, for example.
U.P.D.A.T.E: Since creating this article, I have moved away from ChatGPT to primarily use Google AI Studio. All prompts below work just as well on both AIs, but I prefer the results on Google AI Studio as they sound more natural.
SEO Prompts: Finding SEO Keywords
There are 2 ways to find SEO keywords with ChatGPT:
- Option 1: Take 10 blog posts from each competitor (max 2-3 competitors); try to find which keywords they have written content for.
For each blog post, ask:
To date, ChatGPT is not capable of analyzing multiple websites in one prompt. It’s a bit time-consuming, but the results are there. Repeat as often as you like with other competitor URLs.
- Option 2: Ask the AI to give you a list of keyword suggestions.
Simply ask:
Then follow up with:
Note that this is a conversation with ChatGPT; you can, of course, continue discussing by asking it to find other sub-topics or keywords or to deepen a specific sub-topic.
You now have a list of several potentially interesting keywords for blog posts. Now, you need to judge if the suggested keywords are good SEO keywords. For this, there are 3 main criteria to remember:
- Relevance: if the keyword is too far from what you do, remove it.
- Search Volume: this is the whole point of working on a blog post. Try to capture as many users as possible who type the query. The higher the search volume, the more interesting it is.
- Competition/Difficulty: the more sites trying to rank for a keyword, the more competitive it is. You will need more effort and time to reach a top position.
Have no SEO tools on hand? Type a keyword into Google and observe:
- The top 3 is occupied by major sites in your niche: forget it.
- The top 3 is occupied by homepages: forget it.
- There are at least 3 Google Ads results at the top of the page: forget it.

SEO Prompts: Identifying Search Intent
This is very important, even essential. Behind every Google query, there is search intent. What exactly is the user looking for? You must identify it to know the drafting angle. Search intent is generally classified into 4 categories:
- Brand intent: Apple, Walmart
- Buy intent: buy iPhone 17
- Investigation intent: iPhone 17 VS Samsung Galaxy 23
- Informational intent: how to download Facebook on my smartphone?
In reality, search intent must be much more precise. Ask yourself: What does the user really want by typing this query? What do they already know and what do they want to find out? With ChatGPT, you have two solutions:
Solution 1
Sometimes, this isn’t enough; take the URLs of the top 3 on Google:
Solution 2
SEO Prompts: Creating an Outline
Now that you have a keyword + search intent, you need an outline before starting to write. Here is the method I use:
- I use my “note” app.
- Based on the information I have, I draft an outline from my head (when possible).
- I then analyze the outlines of the top 3 on Google SERPs.
- I place my 4 plans in my note app.
- I ask ChatGPT to propose an outline.
- In my note app, I create a mix of the 5 outlines.
Ask:
Role: You are an expert SEO and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) strategist for the website [Your Website]. Your specialty: [Your Specialty].
Mission: Create a structured and expert content outline for a blog post on the following topic: [Title or Subject]
Outline Objectives:
- “AI-Ready” Structure: Apply the inverted pyramid. The most searched answers must be at the top. The article must be cut into autonomous “chunkable” blocks.
- Hn Tags: Use an H2/H3 hierarchy and specify the tags for me. Mix titles in question form (for voice search/AI) and high-impact affirmative titles (for UX).
- Semantic Field & Entities: Integrate key entities essential for credibility into each section.
- Dynamic Formatting: For each H2, suggest the most relevant visual format: a comparative table, an “Actionable” bulleted list, a scientific “Did You Know?” sidebar, or a case study.
- Closing FAQ: 5 to 7 PAA (People Also Ask) questions that add value without repeating the previous text.
- Originality (Helpful Content): Include a section on a technical or unknown angle (e.g., a recent 2025/2026 study) to outshine the competition.
- Writing Constraints for the Outline: Do not write the content yet. Remain factual, informative, and 100% compliant with 2026 knowledge. Use a tone of an expert but accessible advisor.
Never invent a study, a figure, an expert’s name, or a standard. If you cannot cite a verifiable source (title + organization/author + year), write: “(source to be verified)”. - Finally, Fan-out: suggest queries to integrate into the content.
In this prompt, I want to educate the AI by indicating who it is and who it is speaking to.
My pro tip: I often add a “Key Takeaways” section under the introduction to facilitate reading for the user. By directly answering the user’s question, I also improve my chances of reaching position 0 (if the search intent allows).
SEO Prompts: SEO Copywriting
Perfect, we now have all the necessary information to start writing our content, namely:
- The main keyword of the article
- The search intent behind the keyword
- The structure
Now we need to write:
- The introduction
- The main content
- Title and Meta description tags
For the introduction:
Mission: Write 3 versions of the introduction for the article.
Common Guidelines:
- Tone: Direct, human, energetic, active voice (We/You). No fluff.
- Freshness: Data updated for 2026.
- Mandatory SEO Keywords:
- Semantic Keywords:
- Key Entities: use the key entities in the introduction.
- Forbidden words: in a world, it is essential, essential, it is vital, vital, however, moreover, I understand you, it is important to, furthermore, what’s more, crucial, crucial step, it is therefore crucial, it is recommended to, in summary, nevertheless, in conclusion, I’m telling you, discover how, through this article, real revolution.
Then indicate which introduction is most appropriate.
Version 1: The Narrative Hook (Expert & Dynamic)
The introduction must be punchy: between 400 and 600 characters, short sentences. It must include a direct response to the subject in the first few seconds of reading to satisfy AIs (GEO), while citing a sourced statistic to build credibility (EEAT). If you cannot find sourced statistics, do not invent anything, do not write anything, and notify me.
Version 2: The “Direct” Introduction (GEO/IA Ready)
- Target: Answer the keyword’s central question in one sentence.
- Structure: Direct Response (Conclusion) -> Quick Context -> Transition.
Version 3: The “Problem/Solution” Introduction (Conversion)
- Target: Focus on a “pain point” or a specific need related to [your product or service] and offer a glimmer of hope.
Section: “Key Takeaways”
- Bulleted list of 3 to 4 points (1 sentence each).
- Use relevant emojis (e.g., 🧬, 💊, ✅).
- The goal is to summarize 100% of the article’s added value for a busy reader.
The introduction is very important; it must be catchy to encourage the user to stay as long as possible on the article. Ideally, it’s good to use a semantic analysis tool to identify the most important semantic words. Personally, I use Thot SEO.
I also choose to strip away words the AI repeats too often which make the content sound unnatural. Finally, to get the text without code overhead, I ask that the content be delivered in HTML format. In the WordPress Classic Editor, simply add the content into the “Text” section rather than “Visual”.
Pro tip: Adding figures/numbers in the introduction is a game changer for increasing your chances of being visible in AI engines.
Now, moving to writing the content:
For the first paragraph
Role: Continue your work as an expert writer for [Company Name]. Maintain the expert, benevolent, and conversational tone previously defined.
Mission: Following the previous section, write the following section of the outline:
1. Format & Structure Constraints:
- Chunkability: This section must be autonomous. Start directly with an “In brief” summary (TL;DR) in bold. No general introduction.
- Length: 2000 characters maximum for the whole section. 300 characters maximum per paragraph.
- Hierarchy: Use H2 or H3 tags (clean, without useless HTML attributes).
- Visuals (GEO Priority): To illustrate your point, integrate: [To choose] A simple comparative or summary table / An actionable bulleted list (steps or advice) / An expert quote (with name and real source 2025/2026) / a statistic (with real recent source). If you cannot find a source, do not invent anything.
2. Drafting & Tone:
- Human: Use “we” and “you”, prefer the active voice. Light but rigorous tone [adapt according to your niche].
- Forbidden items: Ban “AI” jargon: in a world, it is essential, essential, it is vital, vital, however, moreover, I understand you, it is important to, furthermore, what’s more, crucial, crucial step, it is therefore crucial, it is recommended to, in summary, nevertheless, in conclusion, I’m telling you, discover how, through this article, real revolution.
3. Scientific Rigor (EEAT & YMYL): [Example for a health site]
The content must be informative, factual, and non-medical, never promising to “cure,” “treat,” or “eliminate” a disease.
Avoid any anxiety-inducing, dramatic, or guilt-tripping language.
The content must not diagnose or suggest medical usage.
If benefits are mentioned, they must be contextualized within the framework of healthy lifestyle or hygiene, or supported by external sources.
Blog posts related to health products must be compatible with Merchant Center policies.
4. SEO & Integration:
- Main Keyword:
- Semantic Keywords:
- Key Entities: use the key entities previously identified for this part.
- Code: Delivered in clean HTML (no , no inline styles).
Ready? Write this section now.
Several points to note here:
- Adding a personal dimension to the content is one of Google’s recommendations through its EEAT algorithm. Indeed, the blog author must demonstrate their experience through their content.
- I limit each paragraph to a maximum of 300 characters to increase my chances of being quoted by AIs.
- Finally, I ask for the content in HTML format. I just have to copy-paste it to my page, saving time on layout.
Now, the rest of the content must be written. The previous prompt applies for each point of the outline.
Finally, for the last two missing elements:
For the Title Tag:
For the Meta Description
Now that you have all your raw content, it’s time to format it; here are the next steps:
- Reread the content and verify information: I always ask ChatGPT to reread the content and verify that the instructions were followed. I also ask it for improvement ideas.
- Apply the AI’s recommendations if relevant (they usually are).
- Bold important elements.
- Add optimized images.
- Add internal linking.
- Publish the article on your social networks, newsletter…
As a bonus: I always add an outbound link in the content. Google and users appreciate it when you cite your sources. For a 1000-word article, I usually place 2 outbound links to reliable sources (studies, media…). Remember that every link is a recommendation, so do not recommend just anyone (Google won’t forgive you). Also, avoid outbound links to competitor pages.
To ask for sources:
Bonus: Custom GPTs
As a little bonus, you can install Custom GPTs; these are language models based on OpenAI’s GPT technology, customized to meet specific needs. This customization can include training on industry-specific data, adjusting behaviors, and tailoring responses to align the model with particular goals or integrating specific features to improve user interaction.
Concretely, this automatically configures your ChatGPT for SEO. Find out more here.
Bonus #2: SEO Auto-Correction Prompt
For Self-Evaluation:
Role: You are an SEO & Content Strategy auditor at a leading competitor in the [your sector] industry. You are expert, meticulous, and your goal is to find every flaw to discredit this content. Your perspective is 100% critical.
Mission: Analyze the following text with extreme rigor.
1. Structural & SEO Critiques:
- Helpful Content: Does the article provide unique information or simply paraphrase the Google top 3?
- GEO & AI Optimization: Is the summary (TL;DR) punchy enough to be cited by an AI? Are the sections truly “chunkable”?
- Keywords: Check their presence (H2, introduction, conclusion) and signal any Keyword Stuffing.
2. Scientific Rigor & Trust (EEAT/YMYL):
- Reliability: Are the cited sources credible?
EEAT: analyze each criterion.
Compliance: Are there forbidden terms (cure, treat, miracle) or overly medical formulations that could be blocked by Google Merchant Center?
3. User Experience (UX):
- HTML Code: Analyze cleanliness. Signal any superfluous tags or hierarchy errors.
Tone: Does it sound “robotic”? Are there too many empty phrases?
4. Verdict & Recommendations:
- Provide a list of “Urgent points to correct.”
- Propose 3 concrete improvements to make the article unbeatable compared to Google’s current top 1.
- Argued final grade out of 10 (be severe).
