SEO Audit

The audit is a necessary first step for any SEO strategy. It allows assessing the existing situation and immersing oneself in the website's universe. Depending on your needs, the audit can be more or less comprehensive.

Action Plan

The action plan stems directly from the SEO audit. These are very detailed recommendations such as the list of pages to work on first or the actions to perform page by page.

SEO Optimization

Depending on your needs, your budget, and your involvement, I accompany you monthly in the implementation of the action plan. You can also work on your SEO at your own pace.

Support

Once the mission is complete, I establish a new action plan to be carried out over the long term and I accompany you in the development of your website via SEO reporting and monitoring.

I explain everything to you

Before talking about SEO strategy, you must clearly understand what we are talking about. SEO or search engine optimization is a set of webmarketing techniques that make it so that Google appreciates a website and favors it in the search results. Concretely, if you are a plumber in Nice, it is in your best interest for your website to be on the first page of search results for the query “plumber Nice”.

To better understand what SEO is, here is some information:

How does Google work? 

You must understand how Google interacts with websites, there are 3 main steps:

  • Crawl: Google’s robots will start from the homepage and follow all present links until they have visited 100% of the site’s pages. Following hundreds of criteria, Google will decide if these pages can be indexed in its search engine.
  • Indexing: once the pages are analyzed and validated, Google will index them. It is only from that moment that the pages will be visible in search results. Indexing a website can take up to 1 month.
  • Ranking: this is the last step, depending on the SEO optimization of each page, Google will rank pages according to users’ frequent queries. Contrary to what one might think, referencing is not only worked on at this stage but throughout the process.

The 4 pillars of referencing

About referencing, you must understand how to optimize a website. This involves dozens of techniques and hundreds of Google criteria. To simplify, there are 3 main pillars of referencing:

  • The technical aspect: we are talking about what’s “under the hood”. How is the website designed? A well “written”/designed website will be much easier to read and understand for Google. If we make the job easy for it, Google will thank us with better referencing. No problem with WordPress, that’s why I chose to work on this CMS. The main technical criteria are: internal linking, tagging/markup, depth, indexability, HTTPS…
  • User Experience: this pillar is quite simple, for me there are 3 criteria to respect: a low loading time, a site perfectly optimized for mobile, and good ergonomics.
  • Content: this is the most important pillar and the simplest to work on. Google loves content, text. So we have to give it a maximum, a maximum of pages with a maximum of text content inside. Obviously, each piece of content must provide a lot of value to internet users.
  • Recommendations: finally, it is much easier to land a job if you have been recommended. For Google, it’s the same thing. A website that receives many recommendations is an authoritative website. It will therefore have better referencing. Recommendations take the form of backlinks, links from other websites.

There isn’t just one good SEO service, each referencing consultant may have their own technique, here is mine, it goes through 4 major steps:

1. An SEO Audit

The SEO audit is essential to be able to immerse oneself in the universe of a website. Google works in 3 steps to analyze websites: crawl, indexing, and ranking. The SEO audit allows reproducing this analysis almost identically to know how Google understands the pages of a website. The audit is always accompanied by a keyword study. This results in a report of about thirty pages and fifteen appendices.

2. An Action Plan

The entire SEO strategy of a site is based on the action plan. It covers the 4 pillars of referencing: the technical aspect, user experience, content, and recommendations. It is a very detailed document indicating the procedure to follow to boost the traffic of a website. It is accessible to everyone even if you have no knowledge of webmarketing.

3. SEO Optimization

Optimization is the implementation of the action plan point by point. This essential step of an SEO strategy allows correcting all technical errors, optimizing existing content, correcting ergonomics, and finally determining a new long-term action plan.

4. Support

Once the bulk of the work is done, an SEO strategy must continue over the long term through small daily actions throughout the lifespan of a website. Often, reporting and monitoring must also be carried out. We can talk about other SEO services such as web copywriting and link building.

The SEO audit is the first step of any organic referencing strategy. It is the most common SEO service. It allows taking stock of the existing situation and identifying pages that contain errors. It is essential for the realization of the action plan.

The SEO audit covers the 4 major pillars of organic referencing, mainly:

The SEO audit enables the production of a report divided into 2 parts: the audit report and the action plan.

It also allows identifying several strategic pages: 

  • Active and inactive pages
  • Pages positioned at the beginning of the second page of search results
  • Most profitable pages to work on first
  • Strategic pages that disappoint internet users

For the proper implementation of the action plan, the SEO audit is always accompanied by a keyword study.

The keyword study identifies important queries to optimize each page of the website. The study makes it possible to work on the 3rd pillar of SEO: content.

What is a good keyword: 

  • A popular keyword
  • A relevant keyword
  • A low-competition keyword

There are 3 types of keywords

  • Main keywords: these are the perfect keywords that meet the previous 3 criteria. They will be used to optimize the homepage and menu pages. We can also speak of a subset of main keywords:
    • Long-tail keywords: these are keywords that are rather long (5 or 6 words) and very specific. They bring much less traffic than short queries but they are also much easier to position for better results.
  • Semantic keywords: these are generally very broad and short queries (1 word), these queries are impossible to reference because they are too broad and therefore too competitive. However, they are essential to improve the semantic field of a web page. Remember that Google uses robots and not humans, so you have to make reading easy for it. If I write an article about jaguars, I must use semantic keywords to indicate to Google that I am talking about the car and not the animal (or vice versa).
  • Keywords dedicated to blog articles: maintaining a blog is the best way to improve organic referencing, it’s very easy to write content. In my keyword study, I also deliver keywords that will be used for writing these articles. A good way to quickly reach internet users interested in a subject rarely addressed on the web.

During optimization, the audit report as well as the keyword study must be used to correct the site’s SEO errors and improve it.

SEO optimization is the implementation of the action plan developed following the SEO audit and keyword research.

Depending on your budget and the SEO service chosen, I will take care of the SEO optimization or accompany you in implementing the fixes. We will have to work on the 4 pillars of referencing and correct each page one by one.

In my audit report, I deliver a whole bunch of appendix files that allow you to see more clearly and indicate the fixes to be made for each page.

For example, you will need to work on:

  • The title tag of each page: it must be of a certain length and contain the right keywords
  • The meta description tag: it too must respect certain criteria
  • Content length: the longer a page is, the better it is for Google
  • Internal linking: pages must communicate with each other via links. Wikipedia is the best example of successful internal linking.

First, the first two pillars of SEO must be worked on: technique and UX. Once these two pillars are optimized, the referencing of the site is optimized 100% internally. The content of each page will then need to be optimized. Finally, it will be about working on referencing over the long term on the last 2 pillars, which will take the form of:

  • Web copywriting: writing blog posts daily will allow working on the referencing of the website by adding content regularly. It’s good for the user (more value), for Google (more up-to-date content) and for you (more content to publish on social networks). The more qualitative content there is, the better the referencing will be.
  • Link building (Netlinking): link building is the last pillar of SEO, acquiring recommendations. To have recommendations, you have to go get them on other websites externally. Recommendations take the form of links present on these other websites that link back to yours.

Writing SEO-optimized text is a significant step to obtain good visibility. It is thanks to keyword study that this step is possible. The goal will be to write mainly blog articles daily and optimize each article to get the best ranking.

Google likes text content, it is the 3rd pillar of referencing to work on. It is a step that takes time and requires knowing at least SEO optimization techniques, here are a few:

  • Articles of 1000 words minimum
  • Each article must receive 3 links minimum from other pages of the site
  • Each article must link minimum 3 times to other pages of the site
  • Each article must have at least 3 outbound links
  • Tags must be optimized with the right keywords
  • Highlighting important terms is a plus
  • The right keywords must be placed in the right places

I charge 100€ for an SEO-optimized article. If your site is on WordPress, I can also take care of integrating the articles and publishing/scheduling them.

There is no ideal word count in a web page. The ideal is for your pages to have more keywords than your competitors. There is also no ideal number of articles to publish each month on your website. Remember that the more quality content you publish, the better referenced your site will be.

Should I delegate 100% of my SEO?

It all depends on your budget and time. 99% of my clients choose not to delegate 100% of their SEO strategy. I carry out a mission of about ten days for them to improve what already exists and launch good referencing for their website.

I then establish an action plan that they implement themselves over the long term. I always remain in support to help them put my recommendations into practice.

What if my website is not built with WordPress?
